A Deep Dive Into MYSTIC FORMS
This year we’re getting to know the people behind the brands, with a series of blogs introducing you to our 2019 exhibitors. We’ve asked some of the world’s most creative minds what inspires them the most, and what they brought to designjunction 2019.
In this post we speak to MYSTIC FORMS. Started as an artistic research project by a London-based visual artist Akiko Ban, in collaboration with a digital media designer Taiyo Nagano, MYSTIC FORMS is an experimental jewellery brand inspired by the ‘mystic forms’ found all around the world.
What inspires your designs?
We love travelling and we often take inspirations from the ‘mystic forms’ we found while travelling around the world. The forms which have some kind of energy in them. This can be anything from historic remains in Egypt, spiritual temples in Thailand to great architectures in Japan. We’re both originally from Tokyo and currently living in London, so our design is also hugely inspired by the pop culture in Tokyo and London too.
What is your favourite product you showcased at designjunction and why?
Our latest collection called MEDINA COLLECTION, which is inspired by the powerful forms we found in Morocco. Every piece is our favourite, but we think our statement earrings FORM 041 from the new collection would be our recommendation for people who’s looking for something to spice up her/his outfit and uplift their spirit. Our customers say it brightens up their look and makes them feel good without being distracting in the daily occasion thanks for its very light weight.
